Riddell PM are proud to have been awarded this Contract for one of our regular Customers, Interserve Construction. The £43m Advocates Close Development saw nine listed buildings, located within a historical site in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, transformed into commercial, office and residential spaces. Designed for the Chris Stewart Group by Morgan McDonnell Architecture, the buildings are thought to have dated as far back as the 15th century.
Riddell PM produced separate Building Fabric O&M Manual’s for different phases of the development, including one for the architects and the End Client who each opted to locate their Edinburgh office within the development. As part of our service our experienced team managed the collation of O&M Information from 23 different subcontractors, including the design drawings from 10 consultants and subcontractors who had design input.
The completed development has subsequently went on to win several prestigious architectural awards, including the coveted RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award, the Scottish Property Award, the Sunday Times British Homes Award, and the national RICS Awards UK, Project of the Year.
Lynn Robinson, RICS Regional Director South, commented:
The Advocate’s Close development is a shining example of how a once neglected part of the city can be truly transformed for the better of the surrounding community. Not only has this part of the city been restored in relation to its historic buildings and architecture, it’s been brought right up-to-date with contemporary additions.
