A new secondary school was delivered by Kier Construction and Hub South West Scotland on behalf of South Ayrshire Council.
The new £25m Ayr Academy caters for 1,100 school students, with the capacity for a further 300, and is designed to create a modern and inclusive facility where students can learn in a sustainable and well-designed environment.
The contemporary three-storey school boasts two impressive “learning plazas”, a large central atrium containing various dining areas, a library, ICT suites and multiple flexible performance spaces.
Following Practical Completion, Andy McTavish, the project manager for Kier Scotland, scooped the Gold Award at the Construction Manager of the Year Awards in the Higher Education category. Organised by the Charted Institute of Building, the awards are one of the most prestigious built environment awards in Europe. The awards recognised Andy’s work at Ayr Academy.
Riddell PM’s Appointment followed our work with Kier for their nearby £35m Marr College in Troon, which was another delivered by Kier Construction and hub South West Scotland.
